How New Hampshire Became a Model for Education Freedom – and How CSFNH Alumni Are Leading Its Next Chapter

Posted on

It has been an inspiring season for education freedom in New Hampshire – one defined by expanding opportunity, powerful storytelling, and a shared belief that every child deserves a learning environment where they can truly thrive.

At the Children’s Scholarship Fund New Hampshire (CSFNH), we’ve witnessed this transformation firsthand. From parents finding the right school for the first time, to students discovering new paths to success, the stories behind this movement remind us why education freedom matters. And as those students grow, graduate, and carry their experiences forward, they’re helping shape the future of this work in meaningful new ways.

A New Chapter: The Freedom Alumni Network

CSFNH is proud to announce the launch of the Freedom Alumni Network (FAN) – a new initiative connecting graduates of our scholarship programs with one another and with the next generation of students.

Founding members of FAN will help guide this community from the ground up: sharing their stories, offering mentorship, and continuing the legacy of opportunity that began with their own scholarship journey. The Freedom Alumni Network will also serve as a bridge – linking today’s students with tomorrow’s leaders and ensuring that the values behind education freedom remain personal, local, and lasting.

If you’re a CSFNH graduate, we invite you to join and become part of this exciting new chapter. Join the Freedom Alumni Network (FAN)

A State in the Spotlight

As our alumni community takes shape, the spotlight on New Hampshire’s education freedom movement continues to grow – reaching audiences both statewide and nationally.

On the Air

CSFNH Executive Director Kate Baker Demers recently joined WFEA 1370 AM to share how Education Freedom Accounts (EFAs) are transforming access to opportunity and helping families find the learning environments that best meet their children’s needs. Her conversation underscored what thousands of New Hampshire families have already discovered: when funding follows the student, children thrive. Listen to the full interview here

In her recent NH Journal op-ed, Kate reminded readers that EFAs “aren’t about politics or labels – they’re about children, and about the people who believe in them.” Her piece captures the heart of the CSFNH mission: that every child’s potential deserves to be nurtured, and every parent deserves the freedom to choose the learning path that fits best. The movement behind education freedom is also gaining traction in the research and policy world. In the article “Unleashing Education Freedom’s True Potential” published by Education Next, New Hampshire is singled out as “the star” among states expanding universal existing funding eligibility for choice programs. The piece observes that New Hampshire’s EFA program now “offers a choice program with universal funded eligibility paired with universal eligibility and options.” Read the full article here
