Travis Grieb: Supporting Families Through Thoughtful Choice

Posted on

For Travis Grieb, supporting Children’s Scholarship Fund began with a simple conversation. Introduced to the Education Tax Credit program through earlier charitable work, Travis initially saw the opportunity from a practical perspective. He and his wife, Laura, had already mapped out their giving for the year, and the tax credit made sense financially. What began as a sound decision on paper, however, quickly became something far more personal.

As parents of three children, all of whom will be in school next year, Travis and Laura have experienced firsthand how different environments can shape a child’s growth. Their two older children recently transitioned to Sacred Heart in Hampton, and Travis has already seen a positive change.

“The increased workload has been really good for Kennedy and TJ,” he says. “We have seen benefits from both public and private schools, and that experience has reinforced for us that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to education.”

That perspective is informed not only by his own family’s journey, but also by Laura’s nearly 10 years teaching in public schools. Travis is quick to acknowledge the important role public education plays for many families. At the same time, he believes it is unrealistic to assume any single model works best for every child.

“Public schools are often the right choice,” he says. “But claiming they are the best choice for all students would not be accurate.”

What resonates most with Travis about CSF is its focus on students and families rather than systems. He believes educational freedom means allowing parents and guardians to make thoughtful decisions based on their child’s unique needs, strengths, and circumstances, not politics or outside expectations.

“Every child is different,” Travis explains. “We are more aware now than ever that kids succeed in various environments. My hope is that families can make choices that truly suit them, and that it is not simply about affordability.”

Travis describes his giving as values-driven, and sometimes reactionary in the way many busy parents experience it. As a Certified Financial Planner and business owner at Centeras, he admits that his own generosity does not always follow the structured approach he encourages with clients.

Beyond the immediate financial impact, Travis hopes scholarships provide families with confidence and clarity. He wants parents to feel empowered to explore options, ask questions, and pursue educational paths that help their children thrive.

When conversations arise with clients who strongly support public schools, Travis frames CSF’s work in simple terms. He explains that the organization is not pro or anti any system. It is pro-student. He also emphasizes that programs like the Education Tax Credit are privately funded and designed to expand opportunity without taking resources away from public classrooms.

Looking ahead, Travis is interested in how emerging tools, including a forthcoming federal scholarship tax credit, could encourage more people to support education in meaningful ways. From his perspective, when individuals are given accessible ways to invest in causes they care about, participation naturally grows.

CSF’s current theme, “freedom to flourish,” reflects what Travis hopes for families across New Hampshire. To him, it means trusting parents to make informed choices without judgment or pressure.

“Freedom to flourish means allowing families and kids to choose what works best for them,” he says.

At the heart of Travis’s support is gratitude. When asked why he gives, his answer is straightforward.

“I give because we have been blessed,” he says, “and I want to be a responsible steward of the resources we have.”

Families like Travis’s have seen what’s possible when education is shaped around a child’s needs. Your support can help make those opportunities available to more students across New Hampshire.
